2024 AFL Round 24 Betting Predictions

The last round of the AFL season should be a beauty with top 8 spots still alive until the final game. It starts with the desperate Pies looking to make the finals as they take on the Dees on Friday night footy.

Melbourne Demons (12th) vs Collingwood Magpies (10th)

It's been a disappointing season for the Dees but they're coming off a 54-point win over the Suns on the Gold Coast, which isn't an easy place to play at. So that should give them some confidence going into next season. A win over the Pies would be nice too, but they have lost 4 of the last 5 against them.

The Pies need a miracle to make the finals and that starts with a win over the Dees on Friday night footy. They're finishing off the season nicely with a 3-1 record in their last 4. Last week, they staged a huge comeback against the Lions to win by a point at the MCG. But early season struggles will probably come back to hurt them for a top 8 spot.

The Under has saluted in 10 of the last 11 night games at the MCG with the Dees involved.

Stadium Record

Melbourne are 6-4 in their last 10 games at the MCG. Collingwood are 6-3 in their last 10 games at this venue.

Head to Head Record

In the last 10, the Magpies are 8-2 against the Demons.

Best Bet

Under 170.5 = $1.85

Geelong Cats (4th) vs West Coast Eagles (16th)

The Cats will be keen to bounce back after a shock loss against the Saints at Marvel by 3 goals. The good news is they're still in the top 4 and shouldn't have much trouble with the struggling Eagles. Look out for Jeremy Cameron as he's kicked 3+ goals in 4 of his last 5 games in Victoria.

The Eagles were no match for the Blues last week and their nice little 2 game-winning streak came to an end. This is likely going to be a tough trip but hopefully, they can show some spirit to end the season on a high.

This will probably get ugly for the Eagles as the Cats want to play well before the finals.

Stadium Record

Geelong are 6-4 in their last 10 games at the Kardinia Park. West Coast are 0-3 at this venue since 2021.

Head to Head Record

The Cats are 4-1 against the Eagles in the last 5.

Best Bet

Geelong -50.5 = $1.90

Richmond Tigers (18th) vs Gold Coast Suns (14th)

The Tigers will send off Dusty Martin on Saturday afternoon in what will be an emotional game for the Tiger legend. There's also the wooden spoon to think about if the Tigers can get the upset and we know the Suns don't travel well.

The Suns have been disappointing at the end of the season after 4 losses in their last 5. Last week, they were outplayed at home by 54 pts against the Dees and Dimma won't be happy about it. He would love to get another win over his old side on Saturday.

Gold Coast are 1-16 ATS away from home and the Tigers will be fired up in Dusty's last game.

Stadium Record

Richmond are 1-9 in their last 10 games at the MCG. Gold Coast are 1-2 at this venue since 2021.

Head to Head Record

The Suns are 4-3 against the Tigers since 2018.

Best Bet

Richmond +11.5 = $1.90

Hawthorn Hawks (7th) vs North Melbourne Kangaroos (17th)

The Hawks are one of the hottest teams in the AFL and look destined to make the finals. They've trashed the Tigers and Blues in back-to-back wins. So I don't see them having much trouble with the Roos either. They also love playing in Tassie.

The Roos will be looking to end the season with a better performance. They were smashed by the Dogs last week by 96 pts. They've lost 5 of their last 6 and could still finish on the bottom of the ladder if the Tigers win.

The Hawks are 8-1 against the Under at this venue.

Stadium Record

Hawthorn are 6-0 at this venue since 2021. North Melbourne are 0-1 at this venue since 2021.

Head to Head Record

In the last 10 meetings, the Hawks hold a 7-3 record against the Kangaroos.

Best Bet

Under 176.5 = $1.85

Brisbane Lions (5th) vs Essendon Bombers (11th)

The Lions need a win on Saturday night after back-to-back losses. Last week, they fell apart in the last quarter against the Pies at the MCG, adding to their woes at the venue. But they're back at the Gabba this week against a side that's out of the finals race. A win should get them a home final.

It's another season where the Bombers won't feature in the finals and it's been a tough end to the season. They've lost 4 of their last 5, despite playing 4 of those games at home. But they'll look to send off Dyson Heppell with a good performance.

The Under is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings.

Stadium Record

Brisbane are 6-4 in their last 10 games at the Gabba. Essendon are 1-2 at this venue since 2021.

Head to Head Record

In the last 5 meetings, the Lions hold a 4-1 record against the Bombers.

Best Bet

Under 170.5 = $1.85

Sydney Swans (1st) vs Adelaide Crows (15th)

The Swans have secured the top spot on the ladder and will be looking to continue their winning ways against the Crows. Sydney have won their last 2, beating the Bombers in Melbourne and storming home against the Pies last time at the SCG. Isaac Heeney kicked 3 goals against the Bombers and will be the key against the Crows too.

The Crows lost the showdown last week 80-58 and will be playing for pride on Saturday night. They haven't won at the SCG since 2019 so that will be one of their aims this weekend before the season ends.

The Over is 9-4 when the Swans are at the SCG.

Stadium Record

Sydney are 8-2 in their last 10 games at the SCG. Adelaide are 0-2 at this venue since 2021.

Head to Head Record

Since 2018, the Swans are 5-2 against the Crows.

Best Bet

Over 173.5 = $1.87

Western Bulldogs (6th) vs GWS Giants (3rd)

The Dogs are finishing the season on a high with 4 wins in their last 5. They thrashed the Roos last week by 96 pts, but this matchup will be a lot tougher. They have played well in Ballarat so that gives them an advantage and of course, they'll want a home final.

The Giants are looking for an 8th straight win and a home final. They held off the Dockers last week 101-92 and have won their last 3 away games. So I don't mind them as an underdog.

The Under is 4-0 in this matchup and it's usually tough to score at this venue.

Stadium Record

The Bulldogs are 3-2 in their last 5 games at this venue. GWS are 1-1 at this venue since 2021.

Head to Head Record

The Bulldogs are 4-1 against the Giants in the last 5.

Best Bet

Under 163.5 = $1.87

Carlton Blues (8th) vs St Kilda Saints (13th)

The Blues got the job done in Perth after 3 straight losses, smashing the Eagles 99-34. Despite a long injury list, they can still make the finals. All they need to do is beat St Kilda on Sunday, but I don't think it will be easy.

The Saints upset the Cats at Marvel last week and will be aiming for another on Sunday. It's been a disappointing season but they have finished off the season well with 4 wins in their last 5. They also like Marvel, having won 5 of their last 6.

Carlton are 1-6 ATS and the Saints love playing at Marvel so I think they could get the upset.

Stadium Record

Carlton are 6-4 in their last 10 games at this venue. St Kilda are 7-3 in their last 10 games at this venue.

Head to Head Record

The Blues are 3-2 against the Saints in the last 5.

Best Bet

St Kilda +4.5 = $1.90

Fremantle Dockers (9th) vs Port Adelaide Power (2nd)

The Dockers have lost their last 3 games and it could cost them a spot in the finals. Last week, they went down 101-92 in Sydney against the Giants. So they will need some help from other sides and must win against the Power at home.

The Power are on a 5-game winning streak and took out the Showdown last week. But a 5 game suspension to Dan Houston hurts their backline. However, the Power have won their last 2 against Freo.

Port have a good record against the Dockers and will be trying hard for a home final.

Stadium Record

Fremantle are 6-3 in their last 10 games at this venue. Port Adelaide are 1-2 at this venue since 2021.

Head to Head Record

In the last 5 meetings, the Power have won 4 games against the Dockers.

Best Bet

Port Adelaide +2.5 = $1.90
