Tuesday's primetime matchup will see the Chiefs on their home turf and looking to go 5-3 when they take on the injury riddled Commanders. Here's my Tuesday NFL tips to end the Week 8 action.
Washington Commanders (3-4) at Kansas City Chiefs (4-3)
The Commanders got pumped last week 44-22 by the Cowboys and that makes it 2 straight defeats in a row. To make matters worse, starting QB Jayden Daniels is out with a hamstring. So, they will turn to Marcus Mariota at QB and he'll look to use his running game to slow down the Chiefs.
Rashee Rice returned to the field for the Chiefs after suspension and didn't take long to reconnect with Mahomes. He finished with 2 TD catches as the Chiefs thrashed the Raiders 31-0. In his last 2 games, Mahomes has 6 passing touchdowns and 0 interceptions. So, he should enjoy facing the struggling Commanders.
Leg #1 - Rashee Rice Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Rice was back on the field last week after a 6 week suspension and didn't look rusty at all. He finished with a team high 10 targets and that resulted in a nice stat line - 2 TD's, 42 yards and 7 catches. The Commanders gave up 3 passing TD's against the Cowboys last week and the Chiefs should have similar success.
Leg #2 - Patrick Mahomes 35+ Passing Attempts
In 4 of his last 5 games, Mahomes has 35 or more passing attempts. With a favourable matchup and one of his favourite receivers back on the field, he should continue the trend. The Commanders are 25th in the NFL for passing yards allowed, so the Chiefs will look to throw often.
Leg #3 - Marcus Mariota 25+ Rushing Yards
Mariota is one of the more dangerous running QBs in the NFL. In his short playing time this season, he's already beaten 25+ rushing yards in 2 of 3 games. Last week, he had a season high 25 yard rush and when the Chiefs bring the pressure, Mariota will be looking to get some yards on the ground.
