Winx has been all the rage with punters in Cox Plate betting with the reigning champ shortening from $2.00 to $1.80 in the past 24 hours with bluebet.com.au.
The champion mare carries over 90% of the early money with main rival Hartnell drifting out to $3.50.
Bluebet CEO Michael Sullivan said he was keen to keep laying Winx now she was into odds on.
“I really think there is little between Winx and Hartnell and now she is into $1.80 I am keen to keep taking her on,’ Sullivan said.
“I concede it is probably a race in two but Yankee Rose ($15), Vadamos ($17) and Lucia Valentina ($19) all have had their supporters and I will be more than happy to pay those punters.”
Sullivan said punters had also launched into the Manikato/Cox Plate double with the Chautauqua and Winx double being extremely popular with punters.
“We have taken a number of big double bets including one of $8000 at $4.8 on the two champions saluting,” he said.
“It will be a nasty weekend for bookies if both champions salute.”
