BLUEY’S BEST BETS – 5/2/2020
RANDWICK – RACE 4 1800m 16:05 AEDT
PUMPKIN PIE ($4.20)
Opposing the favourite Austria here, who looks beatable at the price, despite two solid runs at similar distance in her last two starts. Pumpkin Pie is an intriguing runner who is unraced past 1600m in her career so far yet has been racing well in a grade much higher than this. Doesn’t look to be a huge amount of speed here, which should be a positive for her first go at this distance. If she can handle the rise in trip, she’ll prove extremely tough to beat.
RANDWICK – RACE 6 1000m 17:15 AEDT
BLACK MAGNUM ($3.00)
Black Magnum goes well fresh and after some early market support I’m confident he’ll be ready to go first up. Last prep he raced well throughout, scoring two wins and two further placings from just six starts. He comes up against a relatively weak field here and can kick off the campaign with a win.
BENDIGO – RACE 5 2200m 17:25 AEDT
EL CHAPARRO ($3.00)
El Chaparro has really taken to middle distance after being held to no further than 1600m previously in his career. His last two starts, which have been at 2000m plus, have been very solid and even included a win at this grade last start at Cranbourne. Will be rock hard fit here and should measure up again and fight out the finish.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
RANDWICK – RACE 7 1400m 17:50 AEDT
STAR OF O’REILLY ($11.00)
The three favourites in the market are not without their queries here, so I’m looking for value outside of them. Star of O’Reilly is third up today and looks a great chance here for Nash Rawiller. Maps to get the run of the race from barrier six and after two solid runs at 1200m to begin the prep, the rise to 1400m could be the catalyst for a win.
