FLEMINGTON – RACE 1 1800m 13:50 AEDT
IMPI ($1.70)
Looks to get a very soft, uncontested lead here which I think makes him one of the bets of the day despite the short quote. Has put together a great career record thus far, with his only loss coming last start, when he was narrowly run down by the very talented Harbour Views. Should be able to bounce back from that and continue on his winning ways.
FLEMINGTON – RACE 5 1000m 16:05 AEDT
BALL OF MUSCLE ($3.00)
Has been racing well recently. After failing in the Group 1 Moir Stakes, he bounced back in the Schillaci Stakes to go down narrowly against Trekking. This is the weakest race Ball of Muscle has faced in some time and should enjoy a nice run with less pressure at the 1000m distance. Has been knocking at the door and the 9-year-old deserves a win this prep.
FLEMINGTON – RACE 6 1600m 16:40 AEDT
HARBOUR VIEWS ($2.60)
Has been well backed in early markets, largely due to two impressive displays to kick off this prep. He beat the aforementioned Impi last start, who looks like another smart one. Prior to that won at Caulfield by 1.25L in impressive fashion. There’s a reason he’s undefeated after 5 starts and there’s no reason to jump off yet.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
FLEMINGTON – RACE 3 1400m 14:55 AEDT
FLY FOR YULONG ($19)
Going with some value in the Greys race, which always provides a great spectacle for the punters on Oaks Day. Fly for Yulong has only had the one start in Australia where he put in a solid run at Geelong coming off a 565-day spell. His best performance came at Dundalk where he won by 4L, so when he puts it all together he can put in a strong performance. I’m banking on big improvement here after such a long spell and a light-weight Kerrin McEvoy on board.
