CAULFIELD – RACE 3 2407m 13:45 AEDT
HIGH BRIDGE ($2.20)
Opposed him last start and unfortunately, that day he bolted in by 2 lengths, displaying yet again his staying prowess. Drops back 100m here but that should be no issue as he is rock hard fit now after four runs this prep. Vaucluse Bay should ensure a solid tempo is set and High Bridge can outstay them again.
CAULFIELD – RACE 5 1000m 14:55 AEDT
ARYAAF ($3.00)
The Hayes/Dabernig trained Aryaaf has only had the one career start thus far but was extremely impressive on debut during Cup week. He was very green during that race down the Flemington straight but showed us that he can definitely motor, scoring a 1.75L victory despite this. He was quickly spelled and resumes today after 86 days. Looks supremely talented and should prove tough to beat again.
RANDWICK – RACE 7 1200m 16:30 AEDT
KOLDING ($4.20)
Favourite Alizee has apparently trained the house down ahead of this prep, however I have to question just how ready she will be first up with plans to secure some bigger races later in her prep. Kolding jumps off the page after his near flawless campaign last prep which included three consecutive wins, including the Group 1 Epsom. Confident he will have returned well and looks a backable price here.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
CAULFIELD – RACE 6 1800m 15:30 AEDT
BIG SUR ($13.00)
The two favourites dominate betting here and look tough to beat but may be a touch short. There looks to be a decent amount of speed engaged, which could suit my pick Big Sur at odds. Big Sur resumed off a 672-day spell two starts back and evidently was not fully fit, which is to be expected after such a long time off. Improved last start to finish with a length-and-a-half at Pakenham. I’m confident he will improve greatly here and looks a solid each-way bet at the price.
