Race Speed

It looks to be a genuinely run edition of the PB Lawrence Stakes with some pace out wide from Jungle Edge who is the likely leader. Showtime and Boom Time should also be very prominent from the middle barriers and may elect to hold out Jungle Edge. Hartnell is a big chance to get caught wide from his barrier whilst Black Heart Bart is likely to hold a rails run. Humidor will likely go to the back and may be suited by a genuinely run race.

Key Runners

1. Hartnell ($5.50)
Perennial bridesmaid to Winx, Hartnell is without doubt the class runner of the race. Extremely consistent horse and has displayed good first up ability in the past. Won this race last year. Concerns about the where he lands from the barrier though.

2. Black Heart Bart ($8.50)
Fan favourite and for good reason – Black Heart Bart is a superstar. Absolutely loves this track and distance (6: 4-1-1) and will be ready to go 2nd up. Could get a gun run from the barrier. No wins since 25th Feb 2017 concerns, but has been in tough races.

13. Grunt ($5.00)
Could easily be 5 from 5 and is definitely the one to watch in the race to see how much he has improved since last prep. Likely won’t be fully tuned up as will be aiming for bigger and better things late in the Autumn, but definitely a huge chance.

14. Showtime ($8.00)
Last start ran extremely well first up (caught wide) in a hot race where the winner just missed the track record. Showed great ability in Autumn including a close up 3rd to the talented Brave Smash in the G1 Futurity. Should get a great run in transit.

Race Selection

2. Black Heart Bart ($8.00)
Despite not having won for nearly 18 months, there’s no doubt this is a class animal. Rawiller can give this a gun run from the barrier. 1400m is always a tricky distance for most runners, but BHB is a 1400m who will relish this track/trip.
