Street Icon from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace yard was very impressive on debut. She is a half-sister to the talented Bons Away and won convincingly over 1200m so stepping up to 1300m looks to be no issue.
She will have improved off the back of her first run and looks to be one of the better runners in this race.
Lindsay Park’s Yulong Mercury also looks to be a talented filly.
She was also impressive at her last start and has had a fair amount of racing experience now. It took some time for her to break her maiden but now that she has, she will have gained some confidence and could go on with her career.
Fred Kersley claims two kilos which helps but she has drawn a sticky barrier in nine.
Tip: Street Icon $6.00/$2.25
Phillip Stokes has moved his entire team over to Victoria now and that includes his well-bred staying gelding, Good Idea.
This horse has won his last two starts, both over 2000m plus, and will have plenty of confidence in himself.
This race is a step up in grade but his last two wins have been by a total of 9.4 lengths so you could definitely argue that he was a class above those fields.
South Australia runners often get underrated by Victoria punters and I think this horse could have some pretty serious talent.
Tip: Good Idea $4.80/$1.95
There are two main chances in this race with the first being Godolphin’s Cossetot.
This 3YO won over this distance in a slightly lower grade of race but looks like a horse who is improving and should continue to go on with it.
He has a top jockey on board in James McDonald and a good weight so he should be hard to beat.
The other strong contender is Matowi from the Chris Waller yard.
This horse ran on well last start over 1300m so the step up to 1550m should be ideal.
He gets in slightly better in the weights than Cossetot and has drawn slightly better than him but it’s hard to tell which horse has more raw ability.
Tip: Cosstot $2.35/$1.40
