Bendigo Race 1
There are two main chances in this race but if I had to single out one it would be Suburbia from the Maher/Eustace camp. Last start here over 1400m he came from last and circled the field to finish third, but he ran the quickest final 200m by almost half a second. He is crying out for the mile and is bred to go even further so I think he is the best of this race.
The other main chance in the race is Dunmam from team Weir. He is also bred for this distance and potentially further, but I didn’t like the way he finished off his last start which was also over the mile. When the pressure came, he stuck his head up in the air and looked like he was ready to throw in the towel but he got going again and finished off the final 200m to narrowly miss a place.
If his head is straight, he definitely looks to have the ability to win this race and there’s no doubt that Weiry has done whatever he can to iron out those problems but I’d like to wait and see with him.
Tip: Suburbia $2.70 & Suburbia/Dunmam Quinella
Bendigo Race 3
Going for a bit more value, I was very impressed with the way Andrew Noblet’s Hamslette finished off her last run. She absolutely flashed home her final 50m and ran the quickest final 200m of the race and the 5th quickest final 200m of that meeting. It’s only an 100m in this race and she looks like she could be looking for even more ground, but I think she will at least run a place.
Another horse from the same form line as Hamslette is French Fizz who ran second in that race and also looks like she will enjoy the step up to 1300m. She was as green as grass last start and will be better with that experience. She also finished off nicely after over racing in the early stages of the race.
Tip: Hamslette place - $4
Hawkesbury Race 1
I think Quality Approach will appreciate the step up to 2000m. He tired late at his last start over 1800m but he had to do a lot of work to get into a good spot in the run and the rest of the field had a better turn of foot than him.
This is a far weaker race than his last one and from barrier one he should be able to just jump and sit where he is comfortable and go for home when the time comes
Tip: Quality Approach $2.20 Win
