Sandown R5
As much as she has been ignored, Gemma Rielly’s La Belle Jude deserves recognition in this race.
She is no definite winner, but is way over the odds for a horse that has been running well and takes a few runs to peak.
This is a step up in grade from what she has been running against this preparation, but she has drawn well in a big field and is right down in the weights.
There is a stand out favourite in the race but otherwise it is very open, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the La Belle Jude was there at the finish.
Tip: La Belle Jude place @ $8.50.
Warwick Farm R7
Soul Star has got to be more due for a win than just about any horse in Australia.
She has placed in four of her last five starts and you could even argue that her one unplaced run in that time was just due to coming to the end of a preparation.
Her first-up run was very impressive where she ran second to Crack the Code who seems to be an extremely talented filly.
The Maher/Eustace team are absolutely flying up in Sydney with a small but select team of horses and Soul Star should bring up another winner for them.
Tip: Soul Star each way @ $4.20/$1.75.
Sandown R1
Suburbia from the Maher/Eustace stable was thereabouts in all of his starts last campaign but failed to get a win on the board.
This is a fairly weak race and should be an easy kill for this horse now that he has had some time to mature.
The O’Reilly colts take a bit more time to mature than a lot of others so he should be ready to go. He has drawn well to be able to go back in the run which is how he likes to race and has a top rider on board.
Tip: Suburbia to win @ $2.60.
