IPSWICH GREYHOUND TRACK
IPSWICH TRACK INFORMATION
Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club is located inside of the Ipswich Showgrounds in Queensland. The venue conducts three race meetings per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with entry for adults and pensioners at a small fee. In November of 2019, the Queensland State Government announced plans for Ipswich to become home of a $39 million state-of-the-art Greyhound Centre. The track will move from its current location but will soon become one of Australia’s premier Greyhound racing and training facilities.
The track circumference is 444m with racing over distances of 288m, 431m, 520m, 630m and 732m on the standard loam surface.
IPSWICH KEY RACES
Despite holding mostly provincial racing throughout the year, Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club still holds a number of key races throughout the year, including the; Ipswich Gold Cup, Ipswich Derby, and Futurity while the Young Gun series attracts a large number of entrants each year. The club trails behind Albion Park in terms of prestige but with the new Greyhound Centre set to be installed, there could soon be more high quality races held at the track.

NOTABLE PAST WINNERS AT IPSWICH
Ipswich may lack the prestige of Albion Park, but the track has still produced a number of notable winners over the years. Some of the best winners at the Ipswich track include; Wise Forecast and White Hornet, with both dogs winning back to back editions of the Young Gun series while Freedom Bale was a winner of the Gold Cup along with winning many other Group races in Queensland and New South Wales.
IPSWICH BOX STATISTICS
The inside two boxes have proven by far and away the most successful traps for greyhounds racing at Ipswich in recent years. These two boxes have performed between 15-25% in recent times, far greater than any other boxes. Boxes 3 through to 6 have performed poorly over the years, most likely due to the way the track is set up and distance to the first corner. Winning % by Box Number
