Saturday NBA Tips – Defence to Rule in Minnesota

Some huge matchups headline Saturday’s six-game slate. The Cavs just smoked the 76ers two days ago — can Philadelphia respond this time around? Meanwhile, Minnesota heads to Houston for a key Western Conference clash.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Houston Rockets

This shapes as a potential postseason preview with the Timberwolves travelling to Houston. The Rockets enter on no rest after being smashed at home by the Thunder, while Minnesota will again be without Anthony Edwards.

LEG 1 — Jaden McDaniels 15+ Points

McDaniels has been one of the biggest individual beneficiaries of Edwards’ absence.

He averages 14.8 points per game this season, but that number jumps by 35% to 19.9 points without Edwards in the lineup.

McDaniels has cleared 15+ points in six of those eight games, including 17 points in just 29 minutes last start, and should again see elevated usage here.

LEG 2 — Bones Hyland 10+ Points

Hyland has moved ahead of Rob Dillingham in Minnesota’s guard rotation and remains one of the roster’s most natural scorers.

He’s averaged 17.7 points across his past three games without Edwards and averages 12.7 points in games where he plays 20+ minutes this season.

LEG 3 — Donte DiVincenzo 4+ Rebounds

DiVincenzo continues to be a reliable rebound contributor from the wing.

He averages 4.5 rebounds per game this season and has hit 4+ boards in 18 of his past 22 outings.

Without Edwards, that figure jumps to 5.8 rebounds per game, clearing this line in six of eight games.

This profiles as a defensive grind in Houston.

The Rockets are on the second night of a back-to-back after heavy minutes for Thompson and KD against the Thunder, while Minnesota’s offense takes a clear hit without Edwards.

Minnesota’s game against the Spurs finished on 207 points two games ago, while four of Houston’s past six games have stayed under the 210 total.
