NBA Tips & Betting Preview | Thursday 8 December

Atlanta Hawks (13-11) at New York Knicks (11-13)

The Hawks 2 game winning streak ended on Tuesday as they fell to the Thunder at home by 7 pts (121-114). So they'll be looking for a better performance in New York. Dejounte Murray comes off 24 pts and had one of his best games of the season against the Knicks in early November with 36 pts. So he's nice value to hit the 25+ pt mark in this matchup. In injury news, the Hawks are without Collins and Hunter. So the likes of Griffin and Culver should continue to get more playing time.

The Knicks got back on track with a 92-81 win over the Cavs on Monday that ended a 2-game losing streak. They held the lead for the entire game and led by 18 at one stage. Jalen Brunson top scored for New York with 23 pts and Randle played the support role with 18. At home this season, the Knicks have struggled with just 3 wins in their last 10 games. So they'll look to respond against the Hawks, especially after letting a 23 pt lead slip away in the first meeting of the season between these two teams.

The odds are fairly tight in this matchup as both teams have been inconsistent. So the total looks like a safer bet and it does look on the high side. The Under has saluted in 5 of the last 6 meetings at this venue and we like it here as well.

Stadium Record

New York holds a 1-5 record in their last 6 games at home. Atlanta are 4-2 in their last 6 at this venue.

The Hawks are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings and won the first matchup of the season, 112-99.

Utah are 6-4 in their last 10 at home.

Head to Head Record

Sacramento Kings (13-9) at Milwaukee Bucks (17-6)

The Kings are looking to extend their winning streak to 4 games when they head to Milwaukee on Thursday. After thrashing the Pacers & Clippers by 20+, they beat the Bulls by 9 at home on Monday. They now head on a long road trip to the east coast, which starts with a tough matchup against the Bucks. They have a poor record in Milwaukee as well and will need to bring their defence against Giannis. In team news, the Kings are healthy for this matchup with just Davis questionable with an injury.

The Bucks are seeking their 3rd straight win but will be looking to bounce back on their home court. They lost against the Lakers b 4 pts on Saturday as their defence struggled, giving up 133 points. But they have turned it around defensively in their last 2 games as they've allowed an average of 99 pts. Giannis Antetokounmpo comes off 34 pts against the Magic and should enjoy another favourable matchup against the Kings.

Giannis is our target in what should be a fast-paced game against the Kings. He's coming off 34+ pts in 3 straight games and has collected 13 boards in 2 of his last 3 outings. He's also averaging 5 assists in his last 5. So 50+ points + assists + rebounds looks like nice value.

Stadium Record

Milwaukee are 7-3 in their last 10 at home. Sacramento has lost all of their last 5 at this venue.

Head to Head Record

Since 2017, the Bucks are a perfect 10-0 against the Kings.

Best Bet

Player points + assists + rebounds - G. Antetokounmpo 50+ = $1.95

Boston Celtics (20-5) at Phoenix Suns (16-8)

The Celtics became the first team to win 20 games this season as they defeated the Raptors in Toronto 116-110. Jayson Tatum led the scoring with 31 and Jaylen Brown added 22. Boston will now start a tough 4 game road trip across the West and their form has been good on the road. They're 4-1 in their last 5 and 7-3 in their last 10. In team news, Smart made his return from injury on Tuesday and played 39 mins, which is a great sign for this trip. Brogdon is questionable with illness but should be fine to play after missing the Toronto game.

The Suns woes in Dallas continued on Tuesday as they went down 130-111. Devin Booker was held to just 11 pts and won't get an easy matchup against Boston's defence either. The key will likely be Deandre Ayton and he's coming off 20 pts against the Mavs. He should enjoy a good matchup against Boston without Robert Williams. In injury news, Chris Paul is questionable to return from an ongoing heel injury and Craig is also questionable after missing the game against Dallas.

This should be a quality matchup between two of the best teams in the NBA and we like the chances of the Under. The Suns are 7-3 against the Under at home and it's also 6-1 when they host the Celtics. Boston also holds a 5-0 Unders record on the road.

Stadium Record

Phoenix are 8-2 in their last 10 at home. Boston holds a poor 1-6 ATS record at this venue.

Head to Head Record

In the last 10 meetings, the Celtics are 6-4.
