- CELTIC HARP ($3.20)
Celtic Harp has had just four starts, but has done plenty wrong in his races so far; he has a tendency to begin awkwardly, as well as lay out in the straight. Those mistakes have proven costly for the gelding so far but he now gets to the spacious Newcastle track, which I think should suit. He’s been well supported in early betting and I think today is the day for him.
- MURRAMI EXPRESS ($3)
This looks set to be a great race, with two solid favourites and a few up & coming chances. Murrami looks the one to beat for me, particularly with Jamie Kah aboard. The gelding resumed against the talented Squid Game two starts ago, finishing within 2L & then followed that up with a solid run at Sandown, where he finished 0.8L away. Should be primed for this third up and gets his chance now.
- GATE CRASH ($2.35)
Gate Crash looks by far and away the one to beat here after a very promising start to his career. He’s scored two wins from just four runs and has found trouble in a few races. He looks to have a ton of upside to come & despite this being his first go past 1800m, he looks like he should handle the distance. Should be tough to beat.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- FIJI ($14)
The lightly raced Fiji was an impressive winner last start at Terang, winning by 3L with a space back to third. That was his first go beyond 2100m and he took to it like a duck to water. The start prior at 2000m, he was blocked upon straightening and near the tail of the field, but managed to finish the race off strongly to finish under 2L away. Can keep his good form going here.
