CAVALIER CHARLES ($4.60)
Cavalier Charles is having another crack at the Randwick Highway Handicap after a game second in his last start. He jumped a $2.60 favourite, but was unable to reel in Catanzaro, who was far too good in the wet. He beat the rest of the field easily, so I was still happy with the run. He gets another chance here and will face wet conditions again.
- ZORRO’S DREAM ($3.70)
Zorro’s Dream has been a model of consistency so far this prep; he’s finished no worse than 0.3L away in his past five starts. He’s been runner up in his past three starts however, so he will need to start making the most of his good form. He gets a good chance here today and should be right there in the finish again.
- MALKOVICH ($2.60)
Malkovich looks the clear horse to beat here, particularly with the booking of Jamie Kah, who is looking to secure her 100th win. Malkovich has been in scintillating form this prep, finishing a close second first up before scoring two strong wins. The colt still has plenty of upside to come & looks a great chance to win again.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- SHAKESPEARE ($14)
This race looks wide open, so I’m going with some value in the bottom weight Shakespeare. He’s still in his first Australian prep, but he’s yet to score a win from his four starts. He has performed admirably however, scoring two placings in his first two runs before stepping out to 2400m+. He drops back to 2000m here which looks suitable, and I think he can run a nice race here at a big price.
