AFL Round 12

Melbourne Demons vs Brisbane Lions, Giants Stadium, June 4th 7.50pm

Round 12 kicks off between two teams in the top four but with all that is happening with COVID in Victoria, this game has been moved to Giants Stadium in Sydney. The Demons won me over last weekend with a great win against the Bulldogs. They smashed the Dogs in the contested ball and ran all over them. This game is played at Giants Stadium, though, and I reckon that suits the Lions here. Big forwards in Daniher and Hipwood and plus the added run from the backline could expose the Demons. Will be hot in the kitchen early and a tight contest but I am tipping the Lions. The forwards will be too much to ask of the Demons' defence. Lions to win in Sydney.

Head 2 Head

Lions have won two of the last three games against the Demons

Best bet
Lions win $2
Lions +3.5 $1.90

Sydney Swans vs St Kilda Saints, SCG, June 5th 1.45pm

This game was originally fixtured for Melbourne but again due to COVID, the Swans have picked up a home game and my god has it come at a bad time for the Saints. The Swans are flying high and the Saints are being smashed week in, week out. They face a side that has Buddy up and about and he loves playing against the Saints, so expect a big bag of goals. The Swans midfield play the SCG so well and really utilise the small wings. It compresses the opponent into going long down the line, which plays into Rampe and Mills' hands. Expect a big result from the Swans here. Buddy is on track for 1,000 goals and this week will help him a lot. Swans cover the line.

Swans
-20.5 $1.90
Swans 40+ $3.20

Adelaide Crows vs Collingwood Magpies, Adelaide Oval, June 5th 4.35pm

Big game for the Pies. Their season is all but over but can they show the fans some sort of glimpse into the future. They badly need a key forward that presents and kicks goals but at the moment they look so lost when heading forward from the midfield. The Crows pushed the Tigers all the way in Sydney last weekend and played hard tough footy for four quarters and nearly snatched victory. Tex Walker is in form, along with Sloane, and the young Crows players look like a force coming through. This game will be won from the backline with both teams having good run and carry with Maynard at one end and Seedsman at the other. I can’t tip against the Crows at their home ground so I am expecting a big win come Saturday.

Pies have won the last three games vs the Crows

Best bet
Crows win $1.48
Crows -13.5 $1.90

Essendon Bombers vs Richmond Tigers, Optus Stadium, June 5th 7.40pm

Match of the round here between two arch rivals in Indigenous round. The game was moved from the MCG to Optus Stadium again due to the fact that COVID is in Melbourne and in my eyes, it suits the Tigers. Similar ground to the G and really opens up for the Tigers' running game. Expect Dusty to have a big game with his two last weeks being very quiet for his standards. Jumping Jack kicking goals in the forward line and the added pressure from the midfield should be too hot to handle for the Bombers. The Bombers did play well at Optus Stadium last weekend and beat the Eagles in the contested ball. Expect them to bring the heat early but I believe the Tigers will be too strong and they will also cover the line.

Head 2 Head

Tigers have won the last three games vs the Bombers

Best bet
Tigers win $1.53
Tigers -10.5 $1.90

Carlton Blues vs West Coast Eagles, SCG, June 6th 3.20pm

Smart by the Blues to make the Eagles travel to Sydney to play them on Sunday at a ground the Eagles haven’t won at since 1999, and the way they are going at the moment, I think it will stay that way. The injury curse has run right through the Eagles and claimed another two on the weekend with Kelly and Allen ruled out. The Eagles fell away after half time last weekend and were no match for a Bombers side that were very up and about. The Blues were with the Swans at this ground last week and pushed them the whole way but ran out of gas in the last quarter which has been the trend with this side all year. Benefit, they played this ground well last weekend and will take confidence into this game with the Eagles missing a host of stars. I am sticking with the Eagles in this one though. Eagles by 20+

Eagles have won the last three games vs the Blues

Best Bet
Eagles win $2.05
Eagles +2.5 $1.90

Fremantle Dockers vs Western Bulldogs, Optus Stadium, June 6th 6.40pm

Round 12 rounds out in the wild west and it could get wild with the pain the Dogs are about to inflict on the Dockers. They lost last weekend and the Dogs will want to get back to winning ways. They head to Perth to a ground where they need to win at as they haven’t had a lot of luck  in recent years. The Dockers, on the other hand, are horrible in front of goal. Played ok last weekend in patches against the Power but my lord, they are bad in front of goals. Nat Fyfe is not confident in front of the big sticks and continually lets his team down with silly around the body snaps and a weird goal kicking routine. I am chips in last game of the round for the Dogs to cover the line.

Head 2 Head

Dogs have won two of the last three games vs the Dockers

Best Bet
Dogs -16.5 $1.90
