AFL Round 11

Western Bulldogs vs Melbourne Demons, Marvel, May 28th 7.50pm

Round 11 kicks off against the two-ladder leading sides with both of these teams on a hot streak. There is some talk that this game might be postponed due to the ongoing COVID restrictions in Melbourne. The Demons lost their first game of season 2021 last weekend by a point against a Crows side that just kept coming. I thought the loss was good for the Demons, you can’t go through a season without losing and a loss will freshen them up and make them more hungry for this weekend. Max Gawn is a big player in this game and can really set up the Demons' attack if he is on from the get go. The Dogs had a training run last weekend against the Saints and never got out of first gear. Downside of the win was Trealor is out for 8 weeks with a foot injury. The depth the Dogs have will be able to cover him so I wouldn’t worry there. I am tipping a close encounter here but have gone the Dogs in a game that will most likely decide who finishes first or second in season 2021. Dogs mids too strong.

Head 2 Head
Bulldogs have won two of the last three games against the Demons

Best bet
Dogs win $1.65
Dogs -6.5 $1.90

Collingwood Magpies vs Geelong Cats, MCG, 29th May 1.45pm

Pies would be kicking themselves after last weekend’s performance against the Power. Up all game and lost it at the final siren. There were some good signs for the Pies but some very bad ones as well, which I think the Cats will exploit. The Pies don’t have a genuine key forward so the defenders of Geelong will run riot over them very easily. The Cats are in some good form and made easy work of the Suns last weekend. Duncan will be missing with a head injury, which was a nasty knock. The Cats are on the MCG and this will suit Jeremey Cameron down to a tee. He is quick and loves this ground; I remember when he went bang in 2019 prelim final, kicking them from everywhere. The Pies need to stop the Cats midfield running riot or it will be a blow out. A few headaches for the Pies, take the Cats at the line.

Head 2 Head
Pies have won two of the last three games vs Cats

Best bet
Cats -24.5 $1.90

Brisbane Lions vs GWS Giants, Gabba, 29th May 2.10pm

I am tipping this game to be a hot contest. The Giants have surprised everyone this year and are currently in the top eight. They had a very good win last weekend versus the Eagles in a game where I thought they would get run over. They played smart footy and really used their quick players to their strength. Bobby Hill is one to watch. Last weekend he destroyed the Eagles with his pace and he could go again on the Lions. The Lions had their best win of Season 2021 against the Tigers. The BEAST Mathison stopped Martin in his tracks and did a lot for his side to win. If he brings that intensity to the game this weekend, the Lions will be hard to beat. I love Daniher at the moment up forward, he looks to have the love of the game back and kicking goals. This game will be tight but expect the Lions to get home in a close one.

Head 2 Head
Giants have won two of the last three games vs the Lions

Best bet
GWS +29.5 $1.90

St Kilda Saints vs North Melbourne Kangaroos, Marvel, 29th 4.35pm

This game will be a cracker and the Kangas will get their second win of 2021 - you can quote me. The Saints are in all sorts and their football department should all be sacked. The players that they have drafted and traded for are hopeless. Their top 10 picks since 2013 are hopeless and this weekend they will lose to a side that is hopeless! They were smashed last weekend and never looked like winning. The Kangaroos will be up and about, and they know they can get a good win  to give some joy to their fans. The Kangaroos' younger players last weekend were lost at sea against a Bombers side who are playing some fast football but this  they can really put the pressure on the Saints and get another win. Kangaroos by 10+

Head 2 Head
Saints have won two last three games vs the Kangaroos

Best bet
Kangaroos +28.5 $1.90

West Coast Eagles vs Essendon Bombers, Optus Oval 29th May 7.40pm

Eagles need to win this game. Last week was a game the Eagles were in all game but fell short at the final hurdle against the Giants and again it was away from home. I believe the Eagles went to tall into that game last weekend playing Williams, Kennedy, Darling and Allen. They badly need to get some of their smaller players in the game. Yeo could return this weekend after a year out with OP but the Eagles might save him for next weekend. The Bombers are riding high after a great win last weekend against the Kangaroos and will take that form across to the wild west at a ground where they have had success before. The Bombers will be able to match the Eagles in the middle, but I think the Eagles will be too strong up forward and will look to expose the Bombers with their rebounding on Saturday night. I think the Eagles will bounce back for a good victory against the Bombers and the line is my bet. Darling most goals as well he kicked 5 last time out.

Head 2 Head
Eagles have won the last three games vs the Bombers

Best bet
Eagles -25.5 $1.90

Richmond Tigers vs Adelaide Crows, MCG, 30th May 1.10pm

At this stage this game will be played at the MCG but it is bound to change with the ongoing COVID restrictions happening in Melbourne. Hearing talk that this game will be played at the SCG in Sydney on a Friday night, which will be a massive plus for the Crows, who've played there this year and pushed the Swans for most of the game. The Tigers last weekend got bullied by the Lions in a game I really thought they would win. The Lions put the clamps down on Dusty and it worked, not allowing him the ball and stopping him when the Tigers went forward might be a blue print for how sides can play against them. Adelaide were unreal last weekend and I hope you punters joined in with me and tipped the Crows at $5.35 I thought it was a game the Demons could lose and the Crows were too strong in the end. If the big Texan brings his form this weekend, the Crows can win. Crows at the line (if it is at the SCG)

Head 2 Head
Tigers have won two of the last three games vs the Crows

Best bet
Crows +28.5 $1.90

Sydney Swans vs Carlton Blues, SCG, 30th May 3.20pm

Massive game for the Swans and Blues this weekend. The Blues need to get a win to show their supporters that there is light at the end of the tunnel while the Swans need a win to stay close to the top four after dropping a game last weekend against the Dockers. It was good to see Buddy back in form, slotting six but he needed more help around the ground if the Swans are going to be a force. They get back to the SCG where they play their brand and will look to expose a slow Carlton midfield. In saying that, the Blues did knock off the Swans two years ago at this ground, so they will take confidence they can match it with the Swans. The line is too short not to have a big go at the Swans this weekend. Line best bet.

Head 2 Head
Swans have won two the last three games vs the Blues

Best bet
Swans win $1.42
Swans -15.5 $1.90
