- PINTOFF ($3.20)
Pintoff looks the one to beat here after an impressive first up run at Stawell last start. He sat second throughout and was just too strong late. Last prep he rose through the grades nicely and only put in one bad performance, when he was caught three wide at Bendigo. He looks a consistent type and should go close again here.
- PARRY SOUND ($4.60)
Parry Sound looks a great chance stepping out to 2100m third up here. He was solid first up over 1550m at Canterbury, well short of his best distance. He then jumped to 1800m last start at Kensington and ran a great race at big odds, finishing third at $31. Really liked the way he hit the line and he will relish the extra distance here. Looks the one to beat.
- STREETCAR STRANGER ($3.20)
Streetcar Stranger was only fair in his first two runs to kick off the prep, finishing a modest 3-4L off in both runs. He was much better last start however, settling near the rear in a small field before sprinting nicely to win by just under a length. Makes the trip across from Morphettville today but faces only an average field, which he should be able to take care of.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- HENGROEN ($11)
Hengroen has had just the one start, so there’s not a lot to go off. However, the colt is trained by the impressive Danny O’Brien, who might have a good one on his hands. He trialled behind the likes of Crosshaven and Ironedge and in his only start, he sat second and finished the race off nicely to score at 1400m. Gets out to 1600m and should be much improved from that first up run. Plenty of upside to come and could be an outside chance here.
