- MASTER OF WINE ($2.30)
There’s a good chance Shared Ambition and Master of Wine will fight this out here, and I’m siding with the Hawkes trained Master Of Wine to get the upper hand. This is his first run out of Group 1 level in eight starts, and last time he did that he won at Group 3 level by a dominant three lengths. Third up here today and looks ready to win now.
- WINSUM ($6.00)
Wide open field here, but I’m with the gelding Winsum, who looks to have plenty of upside to come. Last prep, he won first up before jumping up in class at Caulfield and over-racing to finish second. Last start, he resumed impressively to score a dominant 2.5L victory at Cranbourne, with 5L back to third. He can build on that run and run well again here.
- ALFA ORO ($2.80)
The talented Alfa Oro resumes here for Matt Laurie and he looks a great chance here over 1000m. Last prep, he scored a strong victory first up at The Valley before jumping up in class to tackle the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint, where he pulled up lame. He’s won 6 from 9 career starts, so he certainly knows how to get it done and will be hard to beat here first up.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- JUST A JEDI ($34)
Just A Jedi comes into this as a rank outsider up against Group 1 placed Cherry Tortoni & Young Werther. He’s only had six career starts and has scored two wins to date. He was strong when winning two back at Wyong and then put another good run in at Hawkesbury last start. This is a much harder assignment, but he should run better than the odds suggest.
