BLUEY’S BEST

MOONEE VALLEY RACE 3 – 13:25 AEDT

  1. TOO CLOSE THE SUN ($3.50)

It looks likely that one of the top two here will score & I’m siding with the talented Lindsay Smith trained Too Close the Sun, who has returned to Melbourne after a solid WA campaign last prep. He finished 2nd in the Group 1 Railway Stakes in Ascot last prep and was fair first up last start in the Group 1 Futurity. A drop in class here looks suitable and he gets to a winnable race now.

ROSEHILL RACE 3 – 13:45 AEDT

  1. INGRATIATING ($2.25)

Nice little race for this year’s Pago Pago, with two established runners up against many just having their second or third start. Ingratiating looks the one to beat for mine after racing well throughout this prep. He’s yet to finish worse than second in each of his four runs and also scored a nice win at Flemington in the process. Should run well again.

MOONEE VALLEY RACE 9 – 17:20 AEDT

  1. THE BILLIONAIRE ($4.20)

The Billionaire is lightly raced with just five career starts for the Freedman stable. He was fair as a 2-year-old but was spelled and resumed a much better horse. He resumed at Yarra Valley and scored an impressive 2.5L win. He then went to Ballarat and was narrowly beaten, before scoring an all-the-way win last start at Wangaratta. He has plenty of upside to come and can win here again.

BLUEY’S BEST VALUE

MOONEE VALLEY RACE 6 – 15:15 AEDT

  1. JAZZ STAR ($15)

Open race here for the Country Miles Series Final, and there’s no certainly no shortage of chances. I’m siding with the Pike ridden Jazz Star for the Peter Chow stable. She was impressive when winning last start at Colac, sitting worse than midfield and sprinting nicely to score. She’s a versatile mare, but if she’s ridden forward here, she can run a race at big odds.
