- PERSAN ($2.65)
Persan looks a great chance to give punters a winning start to the day. He’s been in a rich vein of form this prep, finishing no worse than third in seven runs and also adding four wins in the process. Was bloused late last start by the talented High Emocean but has been given a few weeks in between runs and can hit back nicely here.
- MORRISSY ($4.00)
Like the look of Morrissy dropping back to HCP grade here. She has been excellent this prep, scoring two wins and arguably should have scored another, if not for a strange tactics change where she was ridden at the tail of the field three starts back. She was brave last start in a much harder grade and should find this more to her level.
- MUGATOO ($2.15)
Could not have been more impressive first up at Rosehill, settling toward the rear and then rounding the field up impressively over a distance short of his best. He’s returned well and if last prep was anything to go by, he looks set for another great prep here. Taikomochi should ensure a solid tempo is set and Mugatoo should be able to round them up once more, provided there’s no track bias. The early $3.50 bet looks like a gift to punters now.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- THE CLOSER ($12)
Favourite here Windstorm no doubt looks on the up and supremely talented, but he’s having his Melbourne start and could be tested at this grade, especially with him likely to be at the rear of the field. The Closer looks like value to me here after an encouraging first up run behind Propelle at this grade. She stepped through the grades nicely last prep and was nearly able to score a win at Group 3 level in her last run. She should take great improvement from that first up run and can feature in the finish here at double figure odds.
