SOMNUS ($1.90)
Looks like he will appreciate the rise to 2000m after putting in three solid starts to begin his prep. Was particularly impressive two starts back when putting in an eye-catching run to finish 1L third at Hawkesbury. Was solid again last start and looks a great chance to break his maiden here.
KEMBLA GRANGE – RACE 7 1300m 17:15 AEDT
SUPERBOWL SUNDAY ($3.10)
Might be the omen bet of the week ahead of the Superbowl later this week, however there are plenty of other things to like about this Newnham trained runner. Has been ultra-consistent throughout his career thus far, which resumed last start with a typically solid third. Drops down in class here and should strip fitter second up. Tough barrier to overcome but still looks a great chance here.
GEELONG – RACE 4 2212m 17:25 AEDT
SEA THE STORM ($3.20)
Sea The Storm is four runs into his prep, and also his career, which began over 1400m and today takes place over 2212m. He has shown marked improvement jumping from shorter races to middle distance races, including an impressive run last time out where he hit the line well. Rock-hard fit now and should be hitting the line well again here. Should be fighting out the finish.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
GEELONG – RACE 6 1509m 18:30 AEDT
MOSCOW RED ($9.00)
Brings terrific second up form into this race, having only finished outside the top 2 in only one of her four second up starts. Got well back when resuming last start but still ran fairly. Ran well last prep, scoring a number of places and even a win in a higher grade than this. Looks to get a great spot in the run and can run well at a nice price here.
